Creating A Growth Plan
Sep 20, 2021Personal growth is essential to success. The people who are doing well, whether in their professional or personal life, invest in their growth and development. In other words, they are intentional about improving their life and view personal growth as a way of reaching their full potential. Here are three steps to create a personal growth plan that will help to unleash your potential and take your success to a whole new level.
Step 1: Decide what you want
Knowing what you want is the first step to getting what you want. When developing a personal growth plan, try and identify your dreams, goals, aspirations, or an outcome you hope to achieve.
Think about areas such as career, relationship, and health. Be honest about your satisfaction levels in these categories by rating yourself on a scale of one to ten, with ten being most desired. Once you have done that, rate yourself again regarding where you would like to be and then chart a course to get there.
Step 2: Choose the resources you need
Now that you are clear about what you want, the next step is to identify and look for the resources that will help your growth in each of the categories you identified. This process may include books, seminars, a mentor, or a coach. I have found the help of a coach or mentor to be one of the most valuable resources in personal development, as it helps you grow faster and cuts the learning curve in half.
Step 3: Execute your strategy
Having decided on the areas in which you want to grow and choosing the resources you need, the next step is to execute. Information is of no value until it’s applied. If you are going to experience change and growth in your life, you will have to take consistent action. In addition, ensure that you track your progress regularly. This approach can be done using a journal or simply by simply inventorying your activities each day before retiring to bed.
As you pursue personal and professional development, be aware that growth is a journey and not a final destination.
